Simone van Lunsen
“I love transforming complex datasets into valuable insights.”
Simone obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wageningen University & Research and a Master's degree in Data Science for Life Sciences from the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. During her academic journey, she developed a keen interest in how AI and machine learning can reveal hidden patterns in data.
At our organisation, she works on developing pipelines that predict soil resilience. She also applies these smart techniques to our other themes (Soil & Water and Bioenergy).
While volunteering on farms in Sweden, Germany, and Spain, Simone witnessed first-hand the economic, ecological, and political challenges that farmers face. This experience further strengthened her motivation to conduct meaningful research.
Her colleagues describe her as intelligent, creative, and highly motivated. She effortlessly combines theory with practice. Simone takes an interest in others and is always willing to contribute ideas on complex issues, making her a valuable team player. She enjoys delving into complex techniques and has the ability to explain her work in simple terms.
In her spare time, she can often be found in the garden, the kitchen, or on the dance floor. She also enjoys walking in nature and learning new languages.
