Jeroen van Wageningen

Specialist soil & water

‘I'm fascinated by how resilient biological systems are, and I want to use that to solve environmental problems effectively.”

Jeroen obtained a Bachelor's degree in Life Science & Technology, minor in Astronomy, and a Master's degree in Biomolecular Sciences. He originally wanted to work in medical research, but during his studies he discovered that he was more interested in environmental issues. While he was a student, he went to a boxing school where he learned the value of communicating in a clear and motivational way.

As a specialist in the soil and water team, Jeroen works on innovative projects using microbiology to degrade various contaminants. His work includes designing and incorporating phytoremediation systems. What fascinates him is how (micro)biology, hydrology and aspects of soil science come together in multidisciplinary projects.

Jeroen's talent lies in his ability to transform challenges into opportunities in projects by asking targeted questions. He is spontaneous, driven and eager to learn, and he enjoys delving into subject matters to uncover details. This combination of sharp thinking and curiosity makes him a great colleague to work with.

In his spare time, he enjoys boxing, making music, dancing salsa and going on long hikes in nature.
