Sjoerd Jan studied Biology with a master's degree in Biomolecular Science at the University of Groningen. During his studies, he completed an internship at our company and was engaged in research for the biopulping project. To this end, Sjoerd Jan optimized the cultivation of white rot fungi to allow them to produce as many enzymes as possible for the breakdown of lignin in biomass. Sjoerd Jan has a broad interest in both fundamental and applied science. He loves to deep dive into something and look for the different pieces of the puzzle of an issue. That matches very well with his position within Bioclear earth. We got to know him as someone with a healthy curiosity, a remarkable capacity for observation and a talent for creating practical solutions. He is always in a good mood and willing to roll up his sleeves and go for it.

In his spare time Sjoerd Jan likes to be outdoors. He also likes to read and play the guitar.
