Ruben studied HBO Bioctechnology at Van Hall Larenstein with a major in Process Engineering and subsequently completed a master’s degree in Water Technology at the Wetsus Academy. Ruben has a strong affinity with innovation and the circular economy. That is why he chose to do an internship at IMenz where he researched antibacterial peptides from waste streams. During his master internship at Bioclear earth, he worked on the innovation project Bio-cementation, in which bacteria are used to fulfill a cementing function in order to replace conventional cement, which is responsible for high CO2 emissions. During this project, Ruben proved his independence and ingenuity by successfully delivering a proof of principle in the form of a block of bio-concrete. We are very content that Ruben stayed with us after his internship. In addition to innovation, he is now also working on in-situ remediation projects. Ruben is known among his colleagues as a good-humored, hard worker and multi-talent, who loves his daily dose of coffee.
In his spare time, he leads a Scouting group and plays the guitar.
